Military spouse in the running for Rotary teaching grant

Terry Dougherty, a military spouse and third grade teacher in Galloway, N.J., is one of eight finalists in the Rotary organization’s “Great American Teach Off. “ She was nominated by her local Rotary organization for the national competition because of her work with children from military families. She recently was voted into the second round. The winning teacher receives a $10,000 grant for her classroom. Mrs. Dougherty’s goal is to create a mobile technology lab for children from military families to communicate with their deployed parents. It will also address Science and Math technology as well as literacy skills.
