Contribute
Help invest in America’s future. Donations from corporations, foundations and individuals are needed to move math and science education forward. All contributions, large or small, will be gratefully received. Here are some of the ways you could help:
- $44 could provide the funds needed for a student to take an AP exam
- $100 could provide a “mini scholarship” to a student that would allow them to buy books, their cap and gown for graduation, or other items that will be necessary as they matriculate to post-secondary schools.
- $500 could send a teacher to training at an AP summer institute
- $1,000 could provide an AP math or science teacher an incentive for reaching their goal for the number of students passing in their class
- $5,000 could provide 50 AP students a “mini-scholarship” of $100 and perhaps more importantly, these students will have the potential to earn college-credit – before they ever step foot on campus. In many cases, colleges and universities award credits for qualifying scores (of 3 or better) on the AP exams. Using 2011-2012 College Board tuition averages, the potential tuition savings for these 50 students could range from $72,750 (average credit hour = $485; assume 3 credits for each qualifying score) for students attending in-state public universities and up to $251,250 (average credit hour = $1675; assume 3 credits for each qualifying score) for private, four-year colleges. A gift of $5,000 could easily translate into much more than college savings for students and their families. In addition, your donation would help prepare more students to succeed in STEM fields once they matriculate to one of our nation’s institutions of higher learning.
Larger donations are needed to bring the highly-successful APTIP and IMF programs to more public high schools and to expand the UTeach program to additional universities. Your help could change lives and make our country’s education system stronger. You are welcome to Contact NMSI to discuss funding NMSI's programs.
The National Math and Science Initiative has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for executing its mission in a fiscally responsible way.
