NMSI CEO Tom Luce will be one of the featured guests for a special anniversary broadcast of the “McCuistion” program on KERA-TV (Channel 13) at noon on  Sunday, February 7, 2010.  The public affairs program will be marking its 20th year on KERA with the first of a six-part series – “20 Years of McCuistion.”

Dallas Educator Awarded With O'Donnell Texas AP(R) Teacher of the Year Prestigious Honor Includes $30,000 Cash Prize

Congratulations to Christopher Jon Bruhn, the Advanced Placement Science Lead Teacher for physics and chemistry at the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), who was named this week as  the recipient of the second annual O'Donnell Texas AP Teacher Award for his outstanding record in helping students master college-level work through rigorous AP courses in high school. The O’Donnell award is largest education award given in the nation and is named in honor of Peter O’Donnell, one of the founding board members of NMSI and founder of the AP Strategies program.

NMSI’s UTeach Program Recognized by President Obama at White House Event

President Barack Obama spotlighted the importance of teachers in shaping our country’s future at a special event today [Jan. 6] at the White House.  Specifically, the President recognized the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) and its UTeach program for preparing a new generation of highly qualified math and science teachers.

Advanced Placement Initiative Receives First Major Award from the Daniels Fund

SANTA FE, NM— The Daniels Fund, started by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels to provide educational grants and scholarships in select western states, has awarded $75,000 to the Advanced Placement Initiative to expand the impact of Advanced Placement on student achievement in New
Mexico. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level courses that students can take in high schooland for which they can earn college credit college at most post-secondary institutions in the United States—saving them time and money in college.
