| Go Ed! |

Posted by Rena Pederson - Director of Communication As many speakers at the “Gathering Storm – 2 years Later” convocation pointed out, the presidential candidates have yet to turn their full attention to education issues – and should. Throwing an occasional water balloon at the No Child Left Behind effort does not constitute a serious debate on the challenges facing the U.S., especially the math and science challenge. That’s why it is heartening to see efforts like the “Ed in ‘08” campaign, which is the election-year public awareness effort by Strong American Schools. The nonpartisan education advocacy effort is trying to encourage discussion by America's leaders about the pressing need for education reform. Through the “ED in '08” campaign, Strong American Schools is calling for a vigorous and thorough discussion of education issues by all the candidates for president in 2008. Three cheers for that. The crucial issue of improving our public schools needs to be in the national spotlight. The Ed in ’08 goal is to build a drumbeat of support for vigorous action after the election, no matter who becomes president.
